There is an appointed duty and place for every human created by God. God is an orderly God, in an attempt to esterblish His will on earth, He gave every creature including individual man to fulfill a specific task and this task, He appointed them unto.
To fulfill your part of God’s agenda or purpose, your must locate your appointed place and duty. You are not created to perform every duty, you are only appointed to one. So also you are not appointed to occupy just any place, you have a specific place on earth appointed for you to occupy. The bible says;
The son of Mahli, the son of Mushi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi. Their brethren also the Levites were appointed unto all manner of service of the tabernacle of the house of God. But Aaron and his sons offered upon the altar of the burnt offering, and on the altar of incense, and were appointed for all the work of the place most holy, and to make an atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded. (1Ch 6:47-49 KJV)
also read: Every human is on God’s appointment list
In the above we saw that the levites were appointed unto all manner of service of the house of God. That is their place of appointment (service of the house of God). But in verse 48 – 49, we saw a specific duty for Aaron and his sons – they were appointed to offer some specific task.
Every one of us has a place appointed to us by God and in that place, there is a specific duty to perform. Your place might be in the clergy, government, helps, business, science and various field of human endeavour. But no matter your place, you have a spicific task that has been appointed for you to do.
You belong to a place and in that place, there is a duty to perform to the glory of God. The bible says;
In the same way, even though we are many individuals, Christ makes us one body and individuals who are connected to each other. God in his kindness gave each of us different gifts. If your gift is speaking God’s word, make sure what you say agrees with the Christian faith. If your gift is serving, then devote yourself to serving. If it is teaching, devote yourself to teaching. If it is encouraging others, devote yourself to giving encouragement. If it is sharing, be generous. If it is leadership, lead enthusiastically. If it is helping people in need, help them cheerfully. (Rom 12:5-8 GW)
Acccording to the above verses, we belong to one body (i.e. one agenda created by God) but we differ in our gifts. These gifts are divine enablements that each one of us received from God and they include; speaking God’s words, serving others, teaching or educating others, encouragement or motivation, sharing or philantropy, leadership or government and help or advocating for others.
So, to locate your appointed place, your must be aware of your gifts. Your gifts are pointers to your appointed place. God places gifts in us to lead us to our appointed place. Never ignore your gifts, they are your most valuable possessions. They will bring you into honour and give you place among the choice of men.
With you gifts, you also have a duty or calling to perform with them. As individual, we might exhibit different gifts, but you must be able to identify your prominent gifts. For instance, some people combine the gift of teaching with leadership with their place in public service. Some others might have their place in business with the gifts of sharing and leadership.
So, also we have some other natural gifts which are subsets of these gifts that God also has placed in us to fulfill our duties in life. Gifts like singing, sports, construction, invention, organization, beautification and many more.
To locate your appointed duty, you can’t discover it by yourself, it can only be given you by God. This is very sensitive, because there are so many people who are in their appointed place, but who are not performing their appointed duty or calling.
So you need to ask God about your appointed duty in prayer and wait for Him to reveal it to you. Paul the apostle did the same thing in Act 22:10 KJV, “And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.”
God may not choose Paul’s way to reveal to you your duty, but He will surely reveal it, if you will ask Him.
Lastly, if you have not given your life to Jesus, you cannot access your appointed place and duty in this life. So I encourage you to surrender your life to Him and you will never regret doing it.
