Eze 22:30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
God is looking for vessels that He can fill and use for His purpose. Many a times, believers out of zeal without knowledge do cry and pray to God to be used by Him. But the truth is, no amount of prayer or fasting can make God to use you, if you are not fit for His use.
The truth am letting out to you today is that, you don’t need to pray to be used of God. God is already searching for vessels who will separate themselves for His use. You must also know that, God will not use you for just any purpose available, but for the exact purpose He designed you for. There is a common song that people sing “if you can use anything Lord, you can use me”; I like tell you that, this song is not correct, because you are not anything, you are somebody with identity with God. You must understand that, you are not the one waiting on God to be used, it is God waiting on you to be ready for His use. Your stage of readiness will determine the extent to which God will use you.
Pathway to fitness
But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. 2Ti 2:20 – 21
There is a pathway to be followed for anyone to become a vessel unto honour. It is your responsibility to walk this path, not God’s. The only person who determines fitness for use is you. To be fit, you have to do the following;
#1 Retrace your steps back to the Potter’s house
Rom 9:21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
For you to become vessel that is fit to be used of God, you must understand that God is the potter, who can make you into vessel unto honour. But to be understood is the fact that, the power God has over you is limited by your choice. God has given you a choice to either become a vessel unto honour or dishonour (… if a man therefore… he shall be 2Tim 2:21). Please understand that, God does not and will never destine anyone to dishonour as some thinks. People become vessels of honour or dishonour by their choice.
For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 1Th 5:9
Your decision to accept Jesus into your life is the first point in yielding yourself to become a vessel unto honour. But for those who reject salvation, they are only available for dishonourable use. No wonder Paul made it known in Rom 9:22 that, God will have to endure with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath who made themselves fitted for destruction. And Apostle Peter re-echoed it in 2Pet 3:9 when he says “… but is longsuffering to us-word, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance”. So, it’s God’s will for you, that you become a vessel unto honour fit for His use.
You can become a vessel unto honour, if you will retrace your step back to the potter’s house for a retouch. You must know that it is not enough to have zeal for God if you are not genuinely saved. Salvation infuses into you the treasure of God (the Holy Spirit) through His power (2Cor 4:7), thereby making you into a vessel unto honour.
#2 Discover your purpose
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. Jer 1:5
In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, Eph 1:11
Everyone who has accepted Jesus has a guaranteed inheritance. But they don’t become profitable to God until their purpose is discovered. God does not use you for just any available assignment. He has you on a schedule to fulfill a specific purpose according to His will.
There are many pastors, bishops and reverends, who have no business being around the altar, because that is not their purpose. Most of the so called minister of God that we see today would have benefited God’s kingdom in business or art, if they had discovered their purpose. I like you to know that, you don’t need to be a pastor to be used of God. God needs vessels unto honour (not vessels of compromise) in places like Government houses, music/film industries, education, business, etc.
The reason God advances us and position us in life is to fulfill His purpose. Just like Esther became queen for the salvation of the Jews; Joseph was sent ahead to Egypt to preserve the generation of God’s people; and Daniel was elevated to defend God’s name in a strange land. So also, our fitness for the master’s use is a product of our understanding of our purpose.
#3 Give Yourself a purging
If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. 2Ti 2:20
It is your responsibility to purge yourself in order to become a worthy vessel in the hand of God. Purging yourself requires you getting rid of those things that irritates God i.e iniquity. “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity”. 2Ti 2:19
The reason why the church is not experiencing much of God is because many want to serve God while living in iniquity. And from definition, iniquity means extreme immoral act. No matter your skill or talent, God cannot use you for any kingdom impact if you live in iniquity. There are many preachers, singers, and church workers that are just noise makers without impact, because they are living habitually in fornication, adultery, malice, pride and such like.
You can gather materials and preach a well-organized sermon, but it will never bless anyone if you haven’t purge yourself from iniquity. So also, you may have the best voice to lead praise or sing, but it will never affect any life or reach up to heaven if iniquity is present in you.
I like you to know that Satan was a vessel unto honour until the time that iniquity was found in him.
Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. Eze 28:14 – 15
Iniquity will make any level of anointing useless. Therefore, it is your responsibility, if you must be fit for the master’s use to purge yourself from iniquity.
Finally, I like you to know that, you are already created a vessel, but the question to be answered is “what kind of vessel are you or wanting to be?” Are you a vessel unto honour or dishonour? The level to which you purge yourself will determine how honourable you will be used. There are a lot of vessels unto dishonour in the church today: many are only honourable before men, but unto dishonour before God, because God cannot be mocked. But as you have discovered today, I like you to be determined to retrace your steps back to the potter’s house, discover your God ordained assignment and through the help of the Holy Spirit, purge yourself of every form of iniquity. I tell you, your world will never recover from the impact God will generate through you
