Help from above has no substitute. Ps 108:12 says “Give us help against the adversary, for vain is the help of man”.

You cannot find help in this world until you first secure it from above. Understand this: If God is your helper, everything living or non-living has no choice but to favour you’. To seek help from sources other than God is to fail in life.

You cannot live your life to the fullest without divine help. There is a help that comes only from above that makes life worth living. Paul succeeded in Ministry because he had the help of God

Acts 26:22 says; [But] to this day I have had the help which comes from God [as my ally], and so I stand here testifying to small and great alike, asserting nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses declared would come to pass.

No matter how great your destiny is, you need help from above to become what God has destined you to be.

What is divine help?

Divine help can mean God assisting man to do what he (man) cannot do. Israel saw the red sea parted before them, and they walked on dry land (Exo 14:15–22), a feat that cannot be attributed to human effort but is a result of divine help. Divine help culminates in outstanding supernatural feats that make even your enemies or competitors afraid of you and your God. To neglect divine help is to settle for failure in life

A divine idea, piece of information, advice, or direction that makes executing a feat easy can also constitute divine help. God’s people are not designed to wander in the wilderness of life. As a child of God, it is on God’s agenda for you to be on top of every situation. Joshua, in Joshua 6:1–27, experienced an outstanding victory by following a simple but powerful divine idea. The walls of Jericho came down by rounding the city for seven days and making a shout on the seventh day. That was indeed an idea out of this world. Jesus turned water into wine by issuing unbelievable instructions. God can also do great things in our day if we learn to trust in His help.

Divine help makes a difficult situation easier by removing difficulties along the way. If God is your helper, no obstacle can stand in your way. God gave Hezekiah victory in a battle he did not fight. Despite the harassment of his opponent, God removed all the human obstacles.

2Ch 32:21-23 “And the LORD sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the house of his god, they that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with the sword. Thus the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all other, and guided them on every side. And many brought gifts unto the LORD to Jerusalem, and presents to Hezekiah king of Judah: so that he was magnified in the sight of all nations from thenceforth.

Divine help can come from God advancing you. Advancement in life can only come through the long leg of God. Psa 44:3 says; “For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them”. Your promised land will remain unpossessed unless you receive divine help.

Why divine help?

You will need divine help for the following reasons;

  • To fulfill destiny (Act 26:22)
  • To be free from shame (Isa 50:7, Ezekiel 3:8)
  • To be free from the fear of man (Heb 13:6; Psalm 118:7; Rom 8:31)
  • To have  a continuous flow of Joy (Psalm 146:5; Deut 33:29)
  • For speedy accomplishments (Exo 2:16 – 19; 2Chron 26:15

How do we secure divine help?

You can secure divine help by belonging to God. God is not obligated to helping you, if you are not in His fold. Many people are calling for divine help today but are living in sin. You belong to God by returning to Him through repentance and genuine salvation. Salvation makes you a child of God – which ultimately qualifies you for His help. If you are not born again, you cannot experience this help we are talking about.  Job 8:20 says “Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers”:

Another avenue through which divine help can be secured is through prayer. A closed mouth is a closed destiny. God will not be obligated to do for you what you find difficult to ask. Heb 4:16 says, “Let us then fearlessly {and} confidently {and} boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it]”. Prayer is not optional for anyone who wants to secure divine help and achieve greatness in life. Prayer is the only avenue by which our problems receive divine attention. Know this: until you pray, nothing happens. So pray until something happens.

Worship is another avenue through which we secure divine help. In 2Chron 20:20-22, Jehoshaphat was faced with an impossible battle. But by appointing singers to praise and worship God in the beauty of His holiness, God laid ambush against his enemies, and they were all defeated. You can turn your problems over to God in praise and worship, and you will see God taking over. This is called sacrificial praise. Paul and Silas did a similar thing when they were put in prison, and suddenly their shackles were broken and they were freed. No matter what is holding you down right now, God will give you victory if you turn it over to Him in praise and worship. Start giving quality praise to God for what He can do, who He is, and what His word says as you anticipate His deliverance.

Lastly, divine help is the guarantee a child of God has for victory in life. Secure it today, and your life will never be the same again. Shalom.
