To fulfill God’s purpose for your life, spiritual maturity is essential. It grants access to the realm of effective service, where deep revelations abound, and you become a vessel of usefulness to God. But what marks spiritual maturity?

Hebrews 5:14 unveils the answer. The mark of spiritual maturity lies in being skillful in the word of righteousness. This means having the ability to discern between good and evil, like a seasoned expert. It is referred to as being “perfect,” as Jesus encouraged us to be in Matthew 5:48, aligning ourselves with our Heavenly Father’s perfection.

It’s vital to note that spiritual maturity is not determined by the number of years you’ve spent as a believer or attending church services. Rather, it is a product of the skills you’ve developed over time in your walk with God. Just like driving skills are honed on the road, spiritual maturity is cultivated through continuous practice and active participation.

So, how do you train your spiritual senses and attain maturity? There are two key ways, similar to how we train our physical senses:

  1. Instruction through the Word by the Holy Spirit: 2Ti 3:16-17 KJV Embrace the Holy Scriptures, as they are divinely inspired and provide profitable instruction for righteousness. Let the Holy Spirit guide you as you study and meditate on God’s Word, equipping you for all good works.
  2. Experience: Gen 30:27 KJV Just as Laban learned by experience that the Lord blessed him, your spiritual senses are trained through real-life encounters and experiences with God. Embrace the journey, knowing that each experience contributes to your growth.

In summary, spiritual maturity is the gateway to a fruitful life of service and profound revelations. Develop your skills through practice, guided by the Holy Spirit and rooted in the Word of God. Let each experience in your walk with God refine and shape you, for spiritual maturity is a continuous journey of growth and development.
